Explanation of deployment settings

General assessment:

User accepts agreement: Sometimes you may require students to agree to something before they complete an assessment. This setting allows you to present some text at the start of the assessment process that must be agreed to before continuing. A typical example in healthcare education could be “students agree to remove all sensitive data regarding patients before submitting their assessment”.

User selects placement: Placement & Timesheets functionality must be enabled. Users can then select a placement to link the response to.

User must answer all questions: By default, assessments can be submitted without students needing to answer all of their questions. If you tick this setting then all questions become mandatory before an assessment can be completed.

User can respond multiple times: If this is unticked then students will only be able to create a single response to this assessment. Left ticked, students will be able to respond multiple times to the same assessment.

User can edit responses online: When ticked, assessment responses can be saved as draft so that students can refine their responses online before submitting them for review by tutors. If this setting is un-ticked then responses are sent directly for tutor review.

User selects tutors to share with: When unticked, responses to this assessment will be made visible to all available tutors. If ticked, students will be presented with a list of available tutors, and they will be able to select which tutors to share their responses with.

Response is graded: Select the grading scheme you want to apply. The System Admin must already have set up the grading scheme.

Observational assessment:

Observer/Observee: This determines who is sent the assessment: to send it to a tutor/mentor's device, select Observer. If you wish to send it to the student's device for them to hand to the relevant person to complete, select Observee.

Observer/Observee accepts agreement: Sometimes you may require observers to agree to something before they complete an assessment. This setting allows you to present some text at the start of the assessment process that must be agreed to before continuing. A typical example in healthcare education could be “observers agree to remove all sensitive data regarding patients before submitting their assessment”.

Observer/Observee selects placement: Placement & Timesheets functionality must be enabled. Users can then select a placement to link the response to.

Observer/Observee must answer all questions: By default, assessments can be submitted without all of the questions being completed. If you tick this setting then all questions become mandatory and must be answered before an assessment can be completed.

Observee gets system access as well as email: If this is selected, a user account will be created based on the details that the observee enters. They will be able to log into Myprogress. If this is not selected, the observee will only receive an email with a link to the response they have submitted.

Response is graded: Select the grading scheme you want to apply. The System Admin must have already set up the grading scheme.

Peer assessment:

Student observer accepts agreement: Sometimes you may require students to agree to something before they complete an assessment. This setting allows you to present some text at the start of the assessment process that must be agreed to before continuing. A typical example in healthcare education could be “students agree to remove all sensitive data regarding patients before submitting their assessment”.

Send to student as self assessment: If this isn’t ticked, then the form only goes to the student’s class mates/peers. If this is ticked, then a blank form also goes to the student themselves, to complete in exactly the same way they’d complete a general assessment.

Student must answer all questions: By default, assessments can be submitted without students needing to answer all of their questions. If you tick this setting all questions become mandatory and must be answered before an assessment can be completed.

Response is anonymous: Feedback is anonymous: the person being assessed will not know who provided that response. As the system knows who completed each response, this can be viewed by a reviewer and they can see who provided the feedback.

Email invite assessment:

Student adds 5 email addresses: This can be edited to how many email addresses can be entered.

Observer accepts agreement: Sometimes you may require observers to agree to something before they complete an assessment. This setting allows you to present some text at the start of the assessment process that must be agreed to before continuing. A typical example in healthcare education could be “observers agree to remove all sensitive data regarding patients before submitting their assessment”.

Observer can respond multiple times: If this is unticked then observers will only be able to create a single response to this assessment. Left ticked, observers will be able to respond multiple times to the same assessment.

Observer must answer all questions: By default, assessments can be submitted without all of the questions being completed. If you tick this setting then all questions become mandatory and must be answered before an assessment can be completed.
