As a UK SaaS SME, MyKnowledgeMap's environmental footprint is fundamentally different from that of a manufacturer, logistics company, or large enterprise operating its own physical infrastructure. Our operations are predominantly digital, with minimal physical premises impact, no manufacturing processes, and no significant waste streams , the types of environmental impacts ISO 14001 was principally designed to address.

 

MyProgress runs on Microsoft Azure, one of the most environmentally progressive cloud platforms in the world. Microsoft has already achieved 100% renewable energy matching across its global datacentre portfolio , confirmed in February 2026 and is committed to becoming carbon negative by 2030, meaning it will remove more carbon than it emits across all three scopes. Microsoft's own Environmental Management System is independently certified to ISO 14001, meaning our primary operational infrastructure already sits within a rigorous, certified environmental framework.

 

For a business of our size and profile, pursuing independent ISO 14001 certification would deliver limited additional environmental benefit while consuming disproportionate resource. Our focus is instead on practical, proportionate sustainability actions: operating lean, cloud-native infrastructure on Azure, minimising office energy consumption, supporting responsible procurement, and being transparent with customers about our environmental position.
