| Version | Updates |
| Released | |
| 2 - 17/03/2026 | Added updated 8.7 guidance re. break, start/end times |
| 3 - 18/05/2026 | 8.6 items removed and Troubleshooting added |
Please note:
- Once a timesheet has been submitted, you will not be able to edit this, and will need to speak to your MyProgress administrator at your university to make any changes to this.
- If you’re not connected to the internet and you add some timesheets to your placement, these will be saved locally on the app, and will automatically submit once you’ve reconnected to the internet. You may need to refresh the app (by scrolling down on your screen), to see the latest timesheets.
Timesheet limits
In the newest version of the MyProgress Mobile App, your university will have the ability to set limits to the number of hours you can add on your timesheet, for both the day and for the week.
When this is enabled, you’ll receive a warning when adding timesheet hours, to let you know if you’ve exceeded the recommended limit or the maximum limit.
The warning will highlight the timesheet row you’re attempting to add, in a specific colour (red or yellow), along with wording to explain why the warning was given.
If you exceed the weekly amount of time (recommended or maximum), you’ll receive a text warning stating this, underneath the Sunday timesheet row.
Below is what will happen when you either exceed your recommended limit or the maximum limit:
| Warning colour for the limit | The warning that will appear |
| Red with an exclamation point in a circle before the name of the day - Exceeding the maximum limit | "Daily hours (xxh) exceed the maximum allowed (xxh) for (day of the week)" |
| Yellow/Amber with an exclamation point in a triangle, before the name of the day - Exceeding the recommended limit | "Daily hours (xxh) exceed recommended limit (xxh) for (day of the week)" |
If none of these warnings appear, then you should be able to submit your hours. Once this is submitted, you’ll be able to see this on the list, and this submitted timesheet will be locked.
A Key has been added for your reference to what each colour means. You can click on the word Key to see the below:
| Key | |
| Green padlock | The timesheet has been verified and locked (if timesheet verification has been enabled by your university) |
| Yellow egg timer | The timesheet is waiting to be verified – you can edit this before it is verified (if timesheet verification has been enabled by your university). |
| Black outlined padlock | The timesheet has been submitted and you cannot edit this. |
| Red circle with exclamation point | The number of hours has exceeded the daily limit amount. |
| Yellow triangle with exclamation point | The number of hours is approaching the daily limit amount. |
Note - Unlike the web, breaks; start/end time cannot be used - you only have the ability to add the total number of hours, so if your University have a specific break policy please bear this in mind.
Timesheet against activity type
For this next example, I’m going to use the terms ‘Day Shift’ and ‘Afternoon Shift’, for two different activity types. The names of yours may vary.
Timesheets are added against your timesheet activity type. For example, if you have added time against your Day Shift and then change this to add time against your Afternoon Shift, the time against your Day Shift won’t be visible to you.
Submitting previous weeks timesheets
You can now add timesheets for the previous week, as well as for the current week of your placement. To do this, click on the ‘<’ arrow, next to the word ‘Week’, which will take you back to the previous week. Add your timesheet hours, approver and comments (if necessary) and then click Submit. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to see these hours and then add hours to your current week.
Verifying timesheets
If timesheet verification has been enabled by your university and you submit a timesheet, the timesheet line will appear yellow with an egg timer icon next to it, to show that it’s waiting to be verified by the approver.
Whilst the timesheet line is showing like this, the timesheet can be edited by you or the approver, and you can make any final changes to it, before the approver verifies this.
Once this is verified, it will appear highlighted in green with a padlock next to the timesheet row, indicating that you cannot edit this.
Writing comments on your timesheet
You can now write a comment on your timesheet. To do this, fill out your timesheet as normal, and once you get to the bottom of the timesheet, just above the submit button, there is a comment text box. You can press inside of this to bring up a keyboard, where you can type in a comment. Once you’ve finished typing your comment, click the Submit button.
Please note: You cannot add breaks or copy over previous timesheets, as you can on the web version. If you need to do this, you can access the web version by going to Settings, and clicking on 'Open Web View', and from there you can do these actions.
Troubleshooting
Why are my timesheet days - greyed out?
There are 3 main reasons for this occurring:
(1) The week falls outside the placement date range — contact your Support team to check placement dates.
(2) The submission window closes after the grace period (the number of days past the end of your placement end date) — contact your Support team to review.
(3) A hard daily or weekly hour limit has been reached — contact your Support team to review if this is not the case.
Blank Activity Type
If the activity type drop down appears empty, or the type you need is missing, please contact your University Support team. The activities may not have been setup or included.
