Overview
MyProgress Version 8.7, brings some exciting changes for all users; this outlines some of those features and changes which may impact your use of MyProgress.
When?
MyProgress Version 8.7 will be deployed over the 18-19th April 2026
Why?
A lot of the changes are to migrate underlying older code base; but this means we can make improvements to visuals and available data to all users - improving everyone's experience.
What?
More Details for All Timesheet Changes can be found here
Entering Timesheets
A new timesheet section has been created with new functionality. The new layout will make it easier to see what information you have entered, and prevents any issues that we have had historically such as duplicating information,
You can access the timesheet section either by the pane on the left hand side of the screen, or the widget on the bottom right of the page.
For example:
This will take you to the new timesheet section where you can submit timesheets individually or for the entire week.
Selecting 'add timesheet row' will allow you to select a placement and activity type. You can then select how many hours you would like to record for each day.
You can also add a comment to each timesheet, and send the timesheet to a different member of staff if it hasn't been verified.
A step by step guide on how to complete timesheets can be found here
Note - Once submitted with sign off or verified by an approver - timesheet entries cannot be edited or deleted by you and you must speak to your University Administration team or do a Reversal
Editing Timesheet Entries
As mentioned timesheet entries cannot be edited, unless they are not signed off or unverified. To edit hours, that have been submitted you can either - create a reversal as below and re-enter the hours correctly or speak to your Academic or University Support team to manually adjust the entry.
Reversals
If enabled by the University team, students are able to "reverse" or remove any incorrect timesheet entries. This replaces the older delete option that was available. If you do not see this feature, speak to your Administration team to reverse the entry.
To reverse an entry, navigate to the left hand menu items and click on Timesheets (this may be referred to slightly different depending on your Universities Terminology)
Locate the placement/rotation where the entry has been made
Locate the entry and look for the reverse icon as indicated below:
Click on the button and you'll be prompted to choose a reason for your reversal.
Once saved the reversal "strikes out" the entry and removes the hours from your programme total (if applicable).
Hour Limits
Your organisation may configure daily and weekly hour limits for each timesheet type. These limits help ensure accurate recording and prevent data entry errors.
| Limit Type | Description | Visual Indicator |
|
Soft Daily Limit |
A warning threshold for hours in a single day. When exceeded, you'll see a warning but can still record hours. | Amber/yellow background on the day column with a warning icon |
| Hard Daily Limit | The maximum hours allowed in a single day. Once reached, you cannot add more hours for that day. | Red background on the day column with an error icon; new entry inputs are blocked |
| Soft Weekly Limit | A warning threshold for total hours in a week. When exceeded, you'll see a warning but can still record hours. | Amber/yellow background on the weekly total with a warning icon |
| Hard Weekly Limit | The maximum hours allowed in a week. Once reached, you cannot add more hours for any day that week. | Red background on the weekly total with an error icon; all new entry inputs for the week are blocked |
For Example:
Time Tracking Options
Depending on how your organisation has configured activities, you may record time in different ways:
Duration Only
Simply enter the number of hours worked. You can type in decimal format (e.g., "7.5") or hours-and-minutes format (e.g., "7:30"). This is the simplest option and is used when the activity does not have time tracking enabled.
Start/End Time with Breaks
For activities requiring more detailed tracking (where the Track Time option is enabled), you must enter:
- Start Time – When you began working (24-hour format, e.g., 08:00)
- End Time – When you finished (24-hour format, e.g., 17:30)
- Break Duration – Total break time to subtract (e.g., 00:30 for 30 minutes)
The system automatically calculates the total hours from these values. Both the hours-and-minutes format and the decimal hours equivalent are displayed.
Notes - Overnight Shifts: The system supports overnight shifts where the end time is earlier than the start time (e.g., start at 20:00, end at 06:00). The system automatically detects that the shift crosses midnight and calculates the hours correctly. Validation: The break duration cannot exceed the total shift duration (time between start and end). If it does, you will see a validation error
Timesheet Dashboard
In the update there is a new feature called Timesheet Dashboards. This will provide an overview of your timesheet data with interactive charts, summary statistics, and a complete record of all of timesheet entries.
This can be accessed on the left hand pane on the screen
There are various boxes on this page displaying different types of data:
Monthly Calendar Heatmap- A calendar view showing a heatmap of hours logged per day. Navigate between months using the previous and next buttons. Days with more hours appear darker, helping you identify patterns at a glance. The footer displays the total hours and the number of days on which hours were logged for the displayed month.
Hours Over Time - A daily bar chart showing how many hours you logged each day over a configurable period. Use the day range toggle to switch between 7, 14, 30, or 90 day views. Days with no hours logged show as empty gaps, making it easy to identify periods of inactivity.
Category Breakdown - A bar chart showing total hours grouped by activity (e.g., Clinical Practice, Simulation, Teaching). This chart also supports the 7, 14, 30, or 90 day range toggle. A legend below the chart lists each activity name alongside its total hours.
The right side of the dashboard shows summary panels that appear once you have timesheet data:
Timesheets by Type - Lists each timesheet type (e.g., NMC Practice Hours) with its entry count, total recorded hours, target hours, and a progress bar showing completion.
Programmes - Shows your programme enrolments with entry count, recorded hours, target hours, progress bar, and programme dates. The first three are displayed, with the option to expand to see all.
Placements - Shows your placement allocations with entry count, recorded hours, target hours, and the placement date range. The first three are displayed, with the option to expand to see all.
Below the charts and summaries, the dashboard displays a sortable, paginated table of all your hour entries – including both weekly timesheet entries and manual adjustments.
The table displays the following columns:
| Column | Description |
| Entry Date | The date the hours apply to |
|
Hours |
The number of hours recorded (negative values shown in amber for corrections) |
| Timesheet Type | The category of hours (e.g., NMC Practice Hours) |
| Activity | The specific activity, if applicable |
| Adjustment Type | For manual adjustments, the type of adjustment |
| Provider | The placement provider |
| Programme Instance |
The programme enrolment |
| Approver Name | The assessor who signed off or was nominated |
Sign off Widget
There is now a sign off widget under each Part/Year, which displays what staff member(s) have been recorded as signing off form submissions. You can filter this by placement / role
Staff you have allocated via an allocation form will be available separately inside each placement block.
Placement Additional Details
Additional information can be added to placements, which is now reflected on the your Portfolio if relevant.
Students Homepage
Currently your Portfolio's have a "wheel" on the left, highlighting your total hours towards your specified Programme Hours. For example:
From the update; there is a new admin option to "group" types of hours, so if this has been configured by your Universities admin team, your layout may now look like this:
If using Timesheet Verification, hours could also display like this:
These changes do not affect the submission or verification, if used, of timesheets by yourselves or staff members
